RACE UPDATE- Day 3, March 4, 2018, Labrador City, NL, Canada

Racers are moving quickly down the Labrador coast along the race route. The teams that checked out of CP Nain began their 10-hour flex (with layover option) throughout the following checkpoints – CP5 Natuashish, CP6 Hopedale, CP7 Postville, CP8 Makkovik, CP9 Rigolet, CP10 Mealy Mountain Park*, CP11 Cartwright, CP12 Black Tickle, CP13 Charlottetown, CP14 Mary’s Harbour.  Racers were able take a 2 hours minimum up to 10 hours mandatory between Natuashish & Mary’s Harbour during the 10-hour flex.

*not eligible for layover option

The second official scratch of the race occurred today with Team # 11 – Team Yamaha / Rockstar / OTSFF, racers Iain Hayden & Lee Butler due to mechanical troubles.

In the afternoon, teams #00, #2, #4, #6, #19, #22, #29, #30, #32, #33, & #88 officially checked in & out of CP9 Rigolet. Things looked tight, but it appeared like #22, #00 & #88 were leading the pack, but not by much! CQ 2018 continues to be a very fast & exciting race!

At this point, thirty nine race teams out of forty-one registered remain in the race. The mild weather has played a huge role in the times of racers in & out of checkpoint communities.  It is anyone’s race at this point!
