Cain’s Quest Day 6 News
During the sixth day of what is shaping up to be the most challenging Cain’s Quest to date, most racers spent much of their day serving their mandatory layover time in Nain. They were able to catch a little nap, fuel up their sleds and bodies, and strategize about their next stretch of the race. Team #00 Innu Hawks jumped onto their machines at 12:16 and headed out onto the new route (for more information on this click here), and to their next checkpoint Hopedale. A few hours later they had two more teams joining them on their journey south; Team #99 The Great Ones departed at 15:39, followed by Team # 73 Watkins-Willmott at 16:20.
Teams continued to depart from Nain all afternoon, and into the evening. Nain is still waiting on the arrival of one racing team, Team #32 Benuen-Selma, who are on their way to checkpoint #14 Natuashish, they will then make their way Nain. Once Team #32 Benuen-Selma arrive in Checkpoint #15 Nain they will also begin to serve an eight hour penalty for using an out-of-bounds trail between North West River and Postville early in the morning of March 6. This decision was made by the Cain’s Quest Race Marshall Committee earlier this afternoon.
Innu Hawks Team #00 have been on the move since departing Nain, they are the first team to express through Hopedale and Postville, and are on their way to Happy Valley-Goose Bay, where they will take their next mandatory eight hour layover. Team #99 The Great Ones have also checked into Hopedale at 20:37 and are on their way to their next express checkpoint in Postville.
