Labrador City, NL – 21 teams left in the race and it promises to be an exciting finish. All remaining teams have signed in to Kuujjuaq, QC to serve their 16 hour mandatory layover. In order to ensure a daylight finish, Cain’s Quest held teams over an additional 12 hours in Kuujjuaq which allowed the first team (Lessard/Hall) a checkout time of 16:46 today. Read more

Labrador City, NL – It is day 4 of Cain’s Quest Snowmobile Endurance Race and 12 teams have checked in to Kuujjuaq (Checkpoint #11) for their 16 hour layover. It was a good day for most teams today with only 1 team scratching this morning at Wedge Hills (Checkpoint #10) Edward Watkins and Simeon Berthe from Kuujjuaq ran into some bad luck this morning with a blown motor and could not continue. Labrador City, NL – Today in Cain’s Quest Snowmobile Endurance Race teams made their way along the second leg of the race toward their next 10 hour mandatory layover stop in Nain. Teams are really battling rough terrain out there along the race route and it has been the demise of a total of 13 teams so far leaving only 22 teams left in the competition. Historically, approximately 50% of the registered teams make it to the finish and it appears that Cain’s Quest 2012 is proving to be just as unforgiving.

Labrador City, NL – Cain’s Quest Snowmobile Endurance Race 2012 is now underway. It was a beautiful day on the start line this morning as hundreds of people gathered to cheer on their favourite teams. Teams left the start line this morning in 2 minute intervals starting at 10am. Team 35 (Gillam/Winter) from Wabush, NL encountered trouble at the start line when a team positioned in front of them backed up into one of their sleds. The team removed their sleds from their position to assess the damage and after determining the damage was simply cosmetic, their departure was delayed by 1 hour which will be made up at one of their layover stops.

Labrador City, NL – Cain’s Quest Snowmobile Endurance Race held the 2012 driver’s meeting this morning at the Labrador West Youth Center. Racers gathered with officials to review the route and discuss the rules in greater detail. Starting positions were drawn at this meeting and tomorrow’s starting line – up is as follows:

Labrador City, NL – Cain’s Quest Snowmobile Endurance Race begins this weekend on March 17th, 2012. Racers will depart from the start line located at the Soccer Pitch next to the Labrador Mall in Labrador City, NL. Teams will leave in two minute intervals beginning at 10am. With 35 teams on the roster for this year, and the most challenging route to date, it promises to be the most thrilling Cain’s Quest yet!
